Day of Love? What about Hatred..?

Today is the pinnacle of the week of love - Valentine's Day. We've been bombarded with images, messages and marketing about love and romance. I was amused by Tropic Skincare's different take on it with the image below and caption "Meet your skincare soulmate and discover a beauty routine that’s perfect for you with Tropic this Valentine’s Day. A range of over 100 vegan, cruelty-free, naturally derived products to choose from." LOL

Whether it be love for a spouse or partner or for yourself the messages of love are everywhere. And it got me thinking - what about hate? In this week of love and all things rosy and gorgeous, what about hate?

We're told not to hate right? Hate is bad, love is good. We don't have a week (or a day) of hate in the calendar. So ask yourself - do you allow yourself to hate? To hate another? To hate a situation? To hate yourself? I'm not saying you should hate but if it arises do you allow yourself to feel it? Or do you stuff it down? Ignore it? Tell yourself you shouldn't feel this way and pretend its not there?

When we deny ourselves hatred we are denying a part of ourselves - which is the opposite of love. How can we fully love ourselves if we deny/stuff down/ignore parts of us just because they are full of hatred and discomfort? After all, hatred just wants to be expressed and then leave you. It doesn't belong in your body. Doesn't belong inside you. Its completely at odds with the essence of who you are.
So this day, this weekend of love, can you give yourself permission to hate? To express any hatred? Not directing it at anyone else, just giving it an outlet. Allowing it to be felt and heard and flow out of you (just like laughter does :)

Here are some ways you might do this:

🌟 Stomp your feet like a 2 year old having a tantrum.

🌟 Jump up and Down.

🌟 Punch the Air.

🌟 Punch pillows/cushions.

🌟 Scream and Let It All Out.

🌟 Listen, sing and dance along to music that gets you going. Caught Out There by Kelis comes to mind :)

🌟 Write in words the hatred you're feeling, what it is about etc. Let anything that has been stuffed down be expressed in words.

🌟 Smash glass in recycling banks.

🌟 Book a Pure Reiki Healing session to help heal and release the heavy emotions.

🌟 Any other way you feel.

These are ways to express and release hatred. Not to or for anyone else - and certainly not to spread hatred - but simply for yourself and your wellbeing. Because you're allowed. And I can't wait for how much lighter and freer (and relieved) you'll hopefully feel afterwards. I know I always do!
