Are you afraid to go above your station?

AboveUrStationChandeReiki2020
How many times have you been told not to get above your station? Don't get too big for your boots? Stay at "your level"?

Sometimes this comes from Fathers and Grandfathers (and sometimes the matriarch) who don't want their offspring to venture too far out (or up) and instead stay within the family orbit. If you think of an orbit as a horizontal path with a gravitational pull - if everyone in the family stays in its 'orbit' i.e - at the same horizontal level - then "we are all together". If one member the family were to rise up i.e. become vertically higher, than they're no longer all on the same plane. The "togetherness" is broken. And it can trigger a deep fear that one might leave the orbit altogether.
So staying in your station is often implanted in us from a fear of being left behind. Or being alone. Or to avoid the disappointment of rising above your station only to "fall" back down.

Take a moment to contemplate. Does a part of you believe it's bad or wrong to get above your station? Was this the messaging you received growing up? Who's fear was it? And can you breathe into it and let it go? No judgement, just observation.

One person I'm really glad moved into a different orbit is Amelia Dimoldenberg (@ameliadimz). Throughout lockdown I've devoured her hilarious Chicken Shop Dates. And last week she created a video investigating statues in London. It's exactly what I've been wanting to say - all in a comedic, honest, 8 min video! She asked the right questions, heard the public's responses and correctly highlighted that most of us don't know who we are walking past - so should they be elevated and celebrated? Check it out for yourself here

In the comments she was told "stick to chicken shop dates" and questioned whether she should be getting political etc. If she had "stayed in her station" this incredible investigation wouldn't have been made and 172,000 people wouldn't have seen it and like me, been inspired.

And if I'd stuck to my station and kept to Reiki healing and meditation I wouldn't be encouraging you to sign the country-wide petition to remove statues of racists and place more worthy figures on our banknotes  and incorporate Britain's colonial past into the UK's compulsory curriculum

So this week I invite you to both go inwards (Yin energy) and take action outwards (Yang energy).
Yin: Contemplate any areas where you are resistant or afraid to "go above your station".
YangWatch Amelia's video and sign these petitions. Encourage your friends to do the same ❤️

And keep rising above your station. You're allowed. And after all - how boring would life be if we were all in the same orbit? 💫🙌✨

With all my love,
Chandrika ❣️
